Life: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly….

The main reason that I started writing my blog was to share all of the fun and crazy times that we have with the kids. I wanted to share with my friends and family all of our silly pictures and stories since they aren’t aren’t always here to witness it all.  Plus no one would really believe half the stuff that happens with these boys if I didn’t take pictures and write about it. The blog has grown a little bigger then I ever imagined and I started to fall behind on posts. But I miss it so much. I miss sharing everyday stories with you guys. I have always promised myself that I wouldn’t hide behind the perfect Facebook pictures or Blog posts. I always wanted to be honest and share the good, the bad and the ugly. And when you have three boys … Trust me there’s a lot of ugly. That’s why I haven’t had time to blog as much as I normally do. Despite the craziness of LIFE, these boys are the light of my life and I couldn’t get through it all without them and the hubby.

It’s been an emotional and crazy few weeks in our house. The kids have been super busy with school, Cub Scouts, CCD and now basketball season has started. I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off most days. I used to be an extremely organized person.  But lately it feels like I’m walking around in a haze (and that’s not from the wine). Between the new house, school, Christmas shopping, remembering to move the elf, feeding kids, taking the boys everywhere and entertaining the little 2 year old, I’ve lost all of my organization skills. I need help finding them, but I know that they are just buried under a pile of papers on my desk. That’s one of my goals for 2016 — better organization.  My house is a mess and my mind is even messier.  I don’t know if having the third kid has finally caught up with me or what. But I’m struggling to keep up.  Just like most parents, I am trying to find a balance between it all.  That’s why this blog post will be all over the place as well.  MY BRAIN IS A JUMBLED MESS.

So here’s the latest happenings…

A few times a month we have Cub Scout events and since I am one of the co-leaders of Sean’s den, I have a little bit more on my plate. But that I can handle. It’s been a lot of fun working with a few of the other moms teaching our group of boys. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lot of work but it’s all worth it. I work so much on his den that I forget that Ben has projects too. In the next few weeks we will experience our very first pinewood derby race. The boys are designing Minecraft derby cars — obviously. So hopefully the boys will love working on their cars over the next 2 weeks. I just need the hubby to help them out a bit. I’m not very creative, so I rely on Joey for that.

Basketball started a few weeks ago and I love going to watch them play.  Practices are now over and games start in early January. Ben and Sean are on the same team so that makes the schedule a lot easier.   There’s something about watching 1st and 2nd graders play ball. You have some kids that can’t dribble and then there are the few that are dunking the ball. I love every minute of it and so do they.

CCD has been pretty hectic this year. I decided not to home school them this year, so I send them weekly to class. Ben makes two sacraments this year so I thought the in class instruction would be better for him. I am dying to see him make his first reconciliation. What is he going to tell the priest??

Homework and school have been pretty easy for Ben so far. He doesn’t put up a fight. He does his math, his words and we read together each night. He seems to have the school thing down. He loves his teachers and he always tries to be the teachers pet. He is my little brown-noser and I love it. We just need to work on that kids handwriting.

Sean on the other hand has been struggling.

He struggles with attention, reading, math and his behavior. Joey and I hate seeing him struggle so much. It just makes me so sad that school doesn’t come as easy for him as it does for Ben. Now riding a bike … that’s easy! Sean is pretty much the youngest kid in his class. He is a whole year younger than most of the other 1st graders. That’s what happens when you have an August birthday. So we know that his maturity level is still a little off from the other kids. He started off school just fine but after a few weeks I could see him starting to struggle.

We have been working with the school and now he attends a daily one-on-one reading class. He also gets extra math help a few times a week. His reading has improved tremendously. But something was still off with him. He cannot focus or sit still in class. His attention span is basically at an all time low and it was causing issues in class.  We knew that we had to do something before things got worse. So we had him tested for ADHD. I knew years ago that he had it. Mothers intuition. But now I have it on paper. After tons of long conversations, my husband and I decided to start him on medication. I know that this doesn’t work for all kids and parents but this was the best decision for us.

He just started it a few days ago. So we are still in the early stages. It’s been a struggle each morning getting him to swallow the pill but it does seem to be helping him. Even after just 3 days we have noticed a change. I’m curious to see what his teachers think.

I am really hoping that this helps him out. I get so emotional and cry when I see him get so worked up over a simple addition problem. First graders should not be shedding tears at homework time. Not when the problem is 2+3. He knows the answer. He just can’t figure out how to settle in his chair and write it down. We will do anything to help him out.

Have any of you other moms experienced this? Did you Medicate? Did it help? Please share your experiences with me! I know that we are doing the right thing for him but it’s not always easy.  As long as my Sean keeps the same sweet, crazy, funny, and goofy personality than we will be happy.  I just want him to enjoy life and school just a little bit more!

Oh and in the middle of all of this my little guy turned 2 and the old man turned 40. I can’t forget about those two important milestone days! I will post a few pictures from their special days soon.

Christmas is almost here and I can’t wait to see the boys reactions on Christmas morning.  I will also be happy that I don’t have to move that darn elf anymore.  I was pretty good this year. I didn’t forget to move him once!

Talk to you all soon! Thanks for letting me share with you. Look toward to another post tomorrow. I have a Nuby bath toy review coming up!

Nuby Product Review: Clik-it™ No Spill™ Grip n’ Sip™

Well it’s about that time that I start breaking Owen from his bottle.  First off, I am done washing the darn things! I love his bottles to death but there are a TON of parts!  Second, he is almost a year old {eek tomorrow} and I will be transitioning him off of his formula {thank goodness}!  I have transitioned all of my kids from formula to whole milk by using sippy cups!  But it’s never easy finding the right cup.  I have tried them all.   This time around I started off with the Nuby Clik-it™ No Spill™ Grip n’ Sip™.  So far so good!

He has not had any problems drinking his water and formula from the cups.  He really does enjoy it.  Of course he left this one in the cart at Target!!!  But I had purchased a few others so thankfully he still has those!  It’s great! The only spill we had is because when I washed the cup, I didn’t put the plastic sippy part in the lid correctly! Other than that the click technology has worked perfectly!  Besides my own small error, they haven’t leaked at all and you can really here the “click” when you twist the lid on.

Who Needs Sleep??

Who needs sleep?? This girl does!

I don’t even know how I am typing this post right now since my eyes are being held open by toothpicks. It was another sleepless night in our house. I don’t know how I created three children that do not like to sleep. Owen has been a handful lately and not sleeping or napping on schedule (even off schedule he’s not napping) it started before daylight savings time but did get worse after. Owen is 11 months now but he’s still waking up 1-3 times a night. I try to let him cry it out but he can’t figure out the self soothing thing and just screams forever (or in Sean’s words he screams for infinity). So after what seems like forever I cave and feed him. Oh and now he’s started soaking through his diapers at night so I have to start buying overnight ones. I’m tired of changing pajamas and sheets at 3am.

So the other day Owen decided that after a 1:00 am wakeup call he would get up for the day at 3:45 am. So yes I spent all day home with the 3 boys on about 3 hours of sleep. I went to bed around 11:00 pm but was up from 1:00-2:00 am with Owen (I cannot fall right back to sleep after feeding and changing him). Then he woke me up again at 3:45am. The other two boys were up pretty early too.  They didn’t have school yesterday or today because of the NJ teacher conferences.  It was raining all day out so the boys were restless and fighting NON-STOP. I tried entertaining with Legos, games of UNO, iPads and of course Christmas movies. Nothing could contain their behavior. The morning wasn’t bad but by 11:00 am I was exhausted and moody. Owen finally napped a bit so that helped. I was excited for bedtime. I got the kids to sleep by 7:00 pm. I knew that they would probably be up by 6:00 am but I could handle 6!!! If only it was 6:00 am that everyone woke up for the day!

I tried going to bed myself at 8:00 pm but I had to shower and fold some laundry. I had about 1,000 other things on my to-do list that I had to skip. I gave up even trying. I finally fell asleep around 10:00 pm. But by 1:00 am Owen was awake and ready to rumble. He was soaked again so I had to change him, feed him and deposit him back into his crib. Thankfully he went right back to sleep. But the dreaded 3:45 am arrived and right to the minute he was awake and screaming. I ignored him for awhile but he wouldn’t stop. Joey fed him and changed him. Oh and while this was happening the boys woke up. Yes all 3 kids were wide awake at 4:00 am. Owen finally crashed around 5:00 am but the older boys did not. So I am sitting on my couch right now with two boys who have been up since 4:00 am and one baby who slept until 6:30 am. Thankfully the sun is shining today and Ben has an afternoon play date!!! It should be a less stressful day but not any less tiring! Wonder if I can get them all to take a late morning nap?!

Nuby Product Review: 3 Stage Teether Set with ALL Natural Teether Wipes

The past few weeks we have had a crazy time with teeth in our house.  First off, Ben is about to lose his very first tooth and he has two other loose ones!  I am not a fan of loosing teeth so I am praying that he looses it in school or when his father is home! YUCK!!  But Owen is having the opposite issue right now.  For the past few months he has been going through the terrible stages of teething.  I always feel bad for the kids when they start to get their teeth.  It must be so painful for them and they can’t tell us in words.  It’s also very painful for us moms because we have to figure out a way to soothe our extra cranky baby.  Thankfully we have some great Teether products from Nuby to help reduce some of the pain.  Owen loves chewing on all of his teethers.  Right now he is enjoying these new ones that we received from Nuby!  The typical teething ring is nice but sometimes they need some different textures and shapes to help get those hard to reach teeth.

Owen {and of course Sean} tested them out for me a few days ago.  Owen’s favorite teether is the Stage 1: Super Soft Teether. He loves it not only because it’s cold but it seems to really massage his gums.  The poor kids is such a cranky mess until I give him one of these teethers.  And the wipes that come with it are great to carry around when we are out shopping or at the park with the boys.  Owen loves throwing things around and his teether is no different.  So it’s perfect for when he tosses it out of the cart in Walmart or Target and I can clean it off for him.

If I Don’t Laugh {and Drink}, Then I’ll Cry

I can’t believe that I have three minutes to sit down and type about my day. It was one of those days where everything starts off bad and then just gets worse.  The day that you just want to crawl up into a ball in the corner and cry your eyes out.

It started last night around midnight. I finally fell asleep around 11:30 when a 1/2 hour later I woke up to Sean staring at me.  I knew it was coming.  He agreed to go to bed earlier without a fight — WHICH NEVER HAPPENS — Oh and he mentioned that he didn’t feel good. So I knew that it was going to be a long night.  The kid had a fever.  Not too high. around 101.  So I gave him some Tylenol and snuggled him.  While we were snuggling, Owen woke up.  This kid is killing me.  He wakes up 2, sometimes 3, times a night.  Why on earth have I not produced one child that can sleep more than 4 hours straight. EVER. So I hopped out of Sean’s bed and fed and changed Owen.  Thankfully he went right back to sleep … for now!  I crawled back into bed with Sean for another 1/2 hour until he FINALLY fell asleep.  I slithered out of his room ever so quietly.  Back to my bed. WIDE AWAKE.  Candy Crush at 1am.  Sure, why not.  I did make it to the next level. Can someone please advance me to the next level!!

I finally fell asleep around 1:15.  Around 3am I hear Owen crying, AGAIN.  I just let him cry a bit but it was getting worse so of course I go in and he has soaked his crib.  So here it is 3am and I am changing crib sheets, pajamas, mattress covers, etc. FUN TIMES!  He wouldn’t go back to sleep either.  He was up until 4am.  That’s when I finally fell asleep too.  Then wake up time was around 6:30.  Sean couldn’t go to school because of his fever and he was not happy.  He was fine when he woke up but I had to follow the 24 hour rule!!!  Ugh those damn middle of the night fevers.  If I can just train my kids to not wake me up then I will never know about it… and they can go to school.  I kid, I kid.  So Owen, Sean and I planned our day sitting on the couch watching Jesse on Netflix.  That is until Ben woke up and reminded Sean that he was going to buy lunch for the first time at school today.  Sean started crying and it all went downhill from there.

We finally got Ben on the bus and ran to Shop Rite real quick for some milk.

unnamed (22)

The rest of the morning went smoothly.  Sean watch Jesse on Netflix and Owen took a nice 2 hour nap! I wanted to nap too since I didn’t sleep the night before but that wasn’t in the cards!  I’ll get some sleep in a few decades!  After lunch I thought I would let Sean go outside and burn off some energy.  This kid cannot just sit all day watching tv, painting or reading books.  He needs to play!  So we went on a bike ride to the lake.  He was feeling fine and I figured we couldn’t spread too many germs riding bikes.

unnamed (21)

Well that quiet bike ride turned out to be pretty eventful.  If you read my blog or know Sean personally, then you know that the boy gives me a heart attack every day.  It’s always something. I can’t believe that I have managed to keep him pretty injury free for so long.  Well today almost turned out to be horrific.  He was doing well riding his bike and listening to me when I told him to stop for cars, alleys, and streets.  Well we had just crossed a big intersection in my neighborhood and we were about to cross another street.  I told him to stop because there was a car coming. He was stopped but for some reason he heard “GO” and took off.  I started screaming and running and yelling.  The car was headed right towards him.  I am not lying when I say that I saw both of our lives flash before our eyes.  Thank GOD that the car was going somewhat slow and coming out of a roundabout so he was not speeding.  The guy was yelling at me, but I didn’t care.  He stopped in time and that’s all that mattered.  There was about 5 feet between Sean and the car.  Sean just kept on going.  I was hysterical, screaming, yelling, crying, scared, etc.  I told him that he almost got hit.  His response was “but I didn’t”.  That’s his attitude on anything dangerous.  Danger just doesn’t click with him.  And that scares me to death.

After all of Town Center heard me screaming, I figured it was time to head straight home.  So I picked up my heart off the sidewalk and marched him back home.  After a few more time outs and some yelling it was time to get Ben off the bus.  That went pretty well.. no fighting, no hitting and noone running into the street.  But then we got home.  Owen was cranky so I put him down for a short nap.  Yeah, that didn’t go so well.  The kid screamed and screamed.  I finally got him but he proceeded to scream for 2 hours straight.  Dinner was burning in the stir fry, Owen was screaming, Sean wanted a snack and Ben had his face in the iPad!  I just poured myself a drink and texted Joey to bitch! Ahhh thank goodness it is Friday!

I managed to feed all 3 boys and myself.  We headed to the basement where the boys ended the evening with a light saber battle.  It all ended well.  Sean is fever free and ALIVE, Ben did great on his spelling test today and Owen is finally sleeping!

unnamed (26)   unnamed (23)

AHHHH just another day in my life.  I am not kidding when I say that this is my life… ON REPEAT!!!!  But I wouldn’t trade it for the world {well except for the almost getting run down by a car part}.

Have a great weekend!  We have soccer, karate and then NOTHING!  We are hoping to go exploring in the woods, carve some pumpkins and play outside all weekend long! Happy Fall!

Nuby Product Review: Splish Splash Stackable Cups

Yeah! I am so excited to show you another set of wonderful Nuby Products! Once again, I was given 5 items to review and share with you all on Erinthe Irish Mama. I love having the opportunity to be a Nuby Parent Blogger!

Owen hasn’t always been too sure of the bath.  He didn’t hate it but he never really enjoyed it either.  I could get an occasional smile out of him but he really just wanted to get out and get dressed! But now that the little guy is sitting up and exploring everything in sight, he has started enjoy his baths a lot more.  There’s no more bathing him in the tub on my bed, now he is in the big tub and loving it.  Now I need ways to keep him sitting still while I clean his chubby little body.  Most of the older boys toys are too small or too gross for Owen to play with so I chose these adorable little cups from Nuby.  They are called the Splish Splash Stackable Cups!

Now, like any item that I get to review, the older boys attack the package first.  I had to hide these toys from Sean and Ben for a week because they were fighting over them.  Sean said that they belonged to him, but Ben insisted that they were for Owen! I couldn’t take it anymore and hid them. I only pull them out now when it’s time to give Owen his bath.  The boys have no clue where they are and Owen has his own special stack of toys.

But back to the Cups! Owen loves them.  He loves that he can fill them up with water and watch them drain out of the bottom.  I love draining the water over his head, he LOVES it too.  He is still a little too young to understand that the cups stack but I am showing him how it works.  He’s starting to get the hang of it.

From Nuby:

“These cups help teach your child coordination and help with the development with their 5 senses while providing hours of fun and they are BPA free so they are safe for your baby or toddler to use.”

Available at these retailers: / buybuy Baby
Tuesday Morning

So I am glad that Owen has his first set of bath toys and is finally enjoying the tub a lot more.  If he is anything like his brothers, then I know really soon that he will never want to get out of there! The boys love their tub time!

Next time I will be reviewing the Clik-it™ No Spill™ Grip n’ Sip™ cup!

Vacation Part II: Rehoboth Beach & Hershey Park

So I am back for round two of my vacation diary!  You can catch up on Week 1 here!

The kids spent a few days at my inlaws while Owen and I headed back to New Jersey to catch up on housework and laundry!  I also had to get everything packed for the second week of our vacation.  This year we didn’t go to Avalon for our normal week.  We ended up staying local while the kids enjoyed weeks at basketball, CCD, camps and swimming lessons.  We had a very busy summer.  But towards the end of July, Joey and I were really missing our week away at the shore.  It was a little late to book a house in Avalon so we decided to head on down to Rehoboth.  We both grew up right in Delaware {Joey was only 15 minutes away from the beach town} but we never really vacationed in Rehoboth.  Yes, we spent tons of time there growing up but neither one of us actually stayed down there for a vacation.  It was so nice staying at a hotel right on the boardwalk!  We just parked our car for a few days and walked everywhere!  It was great! The beach and boardwalk were right outside our window.  Plus all of the restaurants, rides and games were a few blocks south on the boards, it was awesome!

Joey and I were in NJ and packed up and left Saturday morning to head down to the beach {for all your Jersey folks, we call it the beach in Delaware … I know it’s the shore in NJ}.  We took our time traveling down.  It is only a 3 hour drive but we decided that since we only had Owen that we would stop for lunch and hit up a few beer stores that we can never get into when we have the whole gang!  I think this trip took us 6-7 hours but it was fine.  Owen was a trooper!  We stopped for lunch at Two Stones Pub in Wilmington, DE.  We love this place! The food is awesome and the beer is superb!  We have never been disappointed!

We finally arrived at Joey’s parents around dinnertime!  We picked up some pizza and had dinner while we were reunited with our other two boys!  They almost forgot about us!  They have a blast down there in the open yard.  They swing, play basketball and we cook s’mores on the firepit!  It’s always a nice and relaxing time! Plus they live 2 minutes from Dogfish Head Brewery so we always stop in to see what’s new.   We spent the night there and the next morning headed into our hotel in Rehoboth.

We stayed at the Henlopen Hotel.  It’s nothing fancy but it has a great view and the rooms are decent.  It definitely needs some upgrades but it was perfect for us!  We couldn’t check in right away so we decided to go to Dogfish Head for lunch!  The kids always enjoy the food and mommy and daddy always enjoy the beers!

After lunch we headed to the beach for a few hours while we waited on our room.  I think that the kids were still a little nervous about the rough waves after last weeks knockdown.  But they still had a blast.  It was another rough day but they managed to get wet and sandy!  Owen on the other hand hid from the sun!  The kid sat like this for a good 10 minutes!  He cracks me up!

At this point we were all anxious to get into our room.  Luckily it was ready.  So we unpacked the car and headed on up!  I fell in love with our view.   I mean look at this!  I love falling asleep to the sounds of waves crashing and since it was a cool night we slept with the door open so we could hear all the wonderful sounds of the Atlantic!

After we checked in and unpacked a bit we headed on down to the boardwalk! Walking the boardwalk with my kids brought back sooooo many memories of my childhood.

I remember walking up and down the boards holding my dads hand as we walked past the “hotel that had the pool out front”.  It was my favorite place to look at. I loved how my boys had to stop and check out the pool as we walked down.  I loved taking my guys into Ryan’s Gems and Junk {I think that they just call it Ryan’s now}.  They sold some of the same “junk” from when I was a kid. I made Sean pose in front of the sea shell jewelry boxes! I guess that they never go out of style {were they ever in style}.

We stopped off at Obie’s by the Sea for dinner that night {after a hit up Candy Kitchen and the arcade}. I mean how can you not love this view at dinner!???

IMG_9604   IMG_9601

The boys were a little crazy but we somehow managed to get through dinner {after I had to remove one of them from the restaurant}.  The next morning was a little windy so we decided to go for a nice walk around Rehoboth and hit up the park for a little bit and then Grotto Pizza for lunch!  We can’t go down to Rehoboth without getting some slices from Grotto’s.

IMG_9620 IMG_9618

Then it was off to Funland. The rides were opening so we had to get there as soon as we could.  My inlaws came into town to spend the afternoon with us.   We had one major meltdown because of a game that we will never mention again.  Okay it was that damn claw game! Come on, it’s rigged… The 6 year old boy never win it!  But despite the breakdown we did get on a few rides! Owen went on the boats for the very first time! It’s a tradition that all kids must ride those boats {there are quite a few generations in our families that have spent many of summers ridding those boats}.

IMG_9625 IMG_9626 IMG_9646

After the rides, we decided to go down to the beach for a few hours before dinner.  It was such a gorgeous night!

IMG_9700   IMG_9696

Since we loved Obie’s the night before we decided to go back again! It was the perfect spot to bring the kids and the stroller.  This night was a little smoother and the kids were pretty well behaved!

Tuesday morning we met up with some good friends on the beach in the morning.  We spent a few hours down there playing and relaxing in the sand.  After they left it was off to lunch at Nicola Pizza and then back to the beach! That night was our last night in town so we had to go big!  We spent a ton of time back at the rides and the boys went into the Haunted Mansion for the very first time! Again this ride has been there FOREVER so we knew it was time for them to get on it. I love how they pretended to be so scared waiting in line but their faces as they came out of it were priceless! They were scared to death!  It was awesome!

After the rides we hit up the ice cream shop and ran into a skunk in the dunes before heading back home to get some rest.

IMG_9729 IMG_9730

The next morning was checkout time! Since we were so close to Joey’s parents we decided to drive there and drop off Owen.  We had a few more things that we wanted to do with the boys and it was just easier if we didn’t have the stroller {sorry Owen}!  We just had to squeeze in one more day of rides and miniature golf!!

IMG_9735   IMG_9736

After we finished up the day in Rehoboth it was time to head back to my inlaws!  That leg of our trip was coming to an end!

We spent a few days relaxing at my inlaws before we packed up the car and headed to Hershey Park!  That was an interesting trip.  The boys were soooo naughty that night in the hotel that we almost didn’t go to the park the next morning.  But we sucked it up and took them!  They weren’t on their best behavior but I think that they still had a blast!

IMG_9777   IMG_9773

IMG_9790   IMG_9792

Overall, we had an awesome time.  Yes there were a lot of moments where the boys were fighting and we were all yelling, but I know that we will look back and only remember all of the fun times and memories that were made that week.  Ok I’ll still remember Ben’s breakdown when he didn’t win the Despicable Me minion at that claw game!  But I will mainly remember the skee-ball games, the rides, and of course the massive amounts of pizza and ice cream that we consumed! I can’t wait to see what next summer brings for us!

We Have Another Wild One

Just when I thought Owen was going to be the easy going, go with the flow, quiet one, he is now starting to show his true colors.  I am blaming it on the teething {please God just let it be the teething}.  This week he has turned into a little whiny pants!  But he is so darn cute that he can get away with it.  He won’t let me leave his side without squawking!  It’s quite the sound.

Oh and the crawling thing! He is a beast! He has only been crawling for maybe two weeks and the kid is into EVERYTHING already.  Ben started to yell at Sean the other day for moving his Pokemon cards, I had to break it to him that it was Owen.  He gets into the kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, climbs the steps and his all time favorite — the plant!  This kid is going to keep me on my toes!

I love his finger/face in this picture.  He’s thinking Hmmmm did I do that?

But he is sooo stinking cute! I can’t get over this kid! I always think that he is Ben’s twin but there’s sooo much of Sean in there too.  Here are pictures of all the boys at 9 months of age!  Tell me what you think?!  There’s no doubt that these kids are related!

Vacation Part I: Bethany Beach

So the last two weeks of summer we spent it traveling around Delaware for a mini vacation! We had no camps, no doctor appointments and no schedules. Just some good old fashion summertime fun.  We started off the two weeks by celebrating Sean’s 5th birthday at the bowling alley. He had a small group of friends and his family there to celebrate.  His actual birthday was still a few days away but it was the best time for everyone to come together and celebrate.

The next day we headed on down to Bethany Beach Delaware to crash my sister’s vacation!  Her family had a townhouse with a ton of space so I brought the three boys down for some beach and pool time with family. Unfortunately, Joey still had to work so he missed out.  The first day we all did our ice bucket challenges on the deck before chowing down on Grotto’s pizza.

My boys were in absolute heaven.  All of their cousins were down at the house as well.  They had their baseball gloves and soccer balls and 3 other boys to play with! They were awesome with my guys.  And Ben only fell down in the swamp by the lake once!  Poor kid was all cut up but he didn’t complain {much}.  It was quite funny.

Tuesday was a gorgeous, hot, beach day.  The kids were so excited to get in the water.  I was a nervous wreck.  The ocean was angry that day and the rip currents were very strong.  The boys both wiped out under the same wave and I thought they were going to get swept away.  Thankfully I was able to grab Ben while my brother-in-law grabbed Sean.  It was the scariest 10 seconds of my life.  Ben was pretty nervous the rest of the day.  Sean, yeah not so much.   After a few hours my anxiety couldn’t take it and Owen was a little fussy so we headed back to the house.

On Wednesday, we decided to skip the ocean.  My sister and brother-in-law took most of their kids to Bethany Beach for the day but my mom, my niece Molly and I took the boys to the community pool.  That was much better for my anxiety!  The boys were so happy that they could swim without swimmies.  The lessons were a hit this summer.  They were doing cannonballs all afternoon long and they actually let me throw them across the pool.  It was a blast. I had such a great time that day.  That night we had a nice family dinner and celebrated Sean’s birthday again!  This time with a Ninja Turtle Cake from his aunt Tara and uncle Matt.

Now it was Thursday morning and this part of our vacation was coming to an end!  We had an awesome few days with the Rahe/Thuer crew!  Thanks again Tara & Matt for inviting the Callaways down to invade your vacation! We all had a wonderful time!

Now onto the next part! It was time to head up to my in-laws house.  They were going to watch the boys for a few days until Joey and I came back down to start our week of vacation.  Today was also Sean’s actual birthday! He had birthday cake for breakfast, Chick-Fil-A for lunch and his grandparents attention for 3 days!  He was thrilled.

Owen and I headed back home to New Jersey to clean the house, do some laundry and pack for round 2 of vacation!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Summer Vacation!

Roughy Toys – One 2 One

A few months ago I was asked to talk about Roughy Toys.  I am a little behind on my blog posts so I apologize for just sharing this now. But make sure that you check out this amazing toy and there may even be a little giveaway at the end of the post!

Meet Alex.

Isn’t he adorable? Is he a monkey or is he a bear? Either way, he is an awesome guy.  Alex likes to bring lots of joy to children, especially to the ones who may not be able to afford their own toys and stuffed animals. Thanks to Roughy Toys, Alex is bringing smiles to kids all over the world.

Roughy Toys is a great company and when they reached out to me, I knew that I needed to jump on the chance to work with them.  My kids have a million stuffed animals, very few of them come with any meaning other than it’s their favorite character from a book or a television show.  But this guy, Alex,  is awesome.  He is the cutest little monkey/bear that Owen likes to cuddle with when we are hanging out in his room.  He sits right on top of his toy box in Owen’s room.

Now why is Alex so amazing?  Well Alex is amazing because for every Alex that is purchased, one is donated to a child in need.  Amazing!  Roughy Toys also have an amazing book called Adventures of Alex.  This can either be bought together with or without Alex.  Just some of the places the donated Alex’s travel to: children’s hospitals, Ronald McDonald houses, domestic abuse shelters, orphanages, and homeless shelters.

Roughy Toys was founded by husband and wife team, Rich & Grace Twilley after an inspiring visit to Brazil. While Rich was finishing his masters, he visited the favelas (slums) of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil and witnessed children in extreme poverty – children with no toys.
When he got home, he was playing with his two year old son Mark and realized that he didn’t need just another toy, he needed a more meaningful toy and Alex was born.

It’s an amazing toy.  If you would like to share a stuffed animal, please go online to Roughy Toys and purchase one today for only $29.95.  Not only will Alex put a smile on your own child’s face, but Alex will also bring joy to one other child that would never have the opportunity to purchase him.  You also have the chance to win one of your own from Roughy Toys.  They have been kind enough to do a giveaway for all of my wonderful readers.

Check out my Erin the Irish Mama Facebook page for the Roughy toy giveaway.  All you need to do is like the post, share it and leave a comment on who you would like to win one for!
