Make a wish! He was so excited that he had candles on his waffles!

And because his brother was very jealous we had to add candles to his waffles as well.

Wordless Wednesday – Skee-ball

One of my favorite games to play at the boardwalk or a carnival is definitely skee-ball.  I have always loved that game and I still can’t walk past a lane without testing out my skills.  Now my goal is to win little prizes for the boys.  But after this past weekend in Rehoboth I have a feeling that Sean is going to start winning his own toys pretty soon.  The kid was a whiz at Skee-ball.  There’s just something about his roll that made me smile.   He is left handed and took that ball and tossed it up the lane.  He had speed and curves! It was pretty awesome to watch.

In one of his games he scored a 130.  Not bad for a toddler.  He even got a 40 on one of his throws.  And only 1 out of 10 rolls did his ball skip into the lane next to him.

Here’s a video of the kid.  I know it’s probably a video only a mother could watch over and over again! But I was so proud of the kid.

And just because I can’t leave Ben out of this post, here are a few pictures of him posing in his karate uniform.  He wasn’t in the mood for pictures and was jumping around, so they are a little blurry.  He has gone to class twice and loves it.

Wordless Wednesday

Happy Hump Day. It’s finally Wednesday and I can feel the weekend. Yesterday I drove the boys down to Delaware to spend some time with my mom and her pool. My sister and her kids came over as well and I think my kids were in the pool for 5 hours straight. Now why was Sean up at 6am? He didn’t go to sleep until 9pm so he should have slept much longer. Ahhhhh doesn’t he know that I needed my sleep? Well now it’s Wednesday and we are headed back into the pool!

Wordless Wednesday

It’s time for a photo dump from my iPhone.  I couldn’t just pick one picture for today’s Wordless Wednesday post so I thought I would post some pictures of our weekend in Hershey Park!  We had a great day visiting with my college friend Janelle and her family.  It was so nice getting together and my kids actually behaved!  All the kids got along and played nicely. It was a great time.

Saturday night Joey headed off to the Dave Matthews Concert and I stuck around the hotel with the boys.  It was bedtime and after a day of playing I figured that they would pass out! Nope, I was wrong.  Ben passed out around 9pm and Sean followed around 10pm.  It wasn’t too bad though because they had some new McDonald’s toys to annoy me play with.

The next day we headed to Hershey Park in the horrible heat.  It was an extremely hot and humid day but we still had a blast.  It started off a little slow because Ben doesn’t like to walk.  So I had to run back and rent a stroller for him.  Then he was too hot to get on a few rides.  Finally after some water and a slushy he bounced back and had a great time.   The kids enjoyed a ton of rides, the sea lion show skee-ball and of course french fries!

Everything went pretty smoothly that day.  Then we stopped back into Chocolate World for a delicious snack and it happened.  The meltdown of all meltdowns. The one where everyone looks at you like you are trying to kidnap your own child.  The one where other parents are giving you dirty looks and judging because your kid is screaming his head off and there’s nothing that you can do.  Yeah it was that kind of meltdown.   Joey had to hold one of his hands and I held the other and we basically carried him out of the massive store and back to the car.   The entire time he was screaming his head off and was trying everything in his power to annoy us.  It was a long day and everyone was hot and tired so I know it wasn’t all of his fault.

Here are some pictures of the fun times at the park!

Now it’s time for the park!

The boys found the giant Hershey bar.  For the first time ever, Ben wasn’t shy or afraid of a character! Yeah!!!  Maybe he will sit on Santa’s lap this year.

Sean loved having this ride all to himself.  I think he went on it 3 or 4 times.  I lost track.

Our view from the kissing tower.

Sean was really into the sea lion show!

Sean’s last day of camp is tomorrow and then we are off for a pool play date with friends!  It’s going to be another hot one out there. I know I am having trouble breathing when I am outside so make sure that you all take care of yourself if you are spending any time out in this heat wave!!!!!  Is it too early to put up my Fall decorations? I can dream right? My favorite season has to be coming up soon, because this heat is pure torture!

Well that’s all for now! I’ll be back tomorrow for Throwback Thursday!

Wordless Wednesday

So here we are, it’s Wednesday again!  Today I have another busy day of doctor’s appointments {I will give you my week 16 update this afternoon}.  But in the meantime here are some pictures of Ben and I in New York City yesterday for his dermatology appointment.  I love when I can get this one on one time with him and taking him to New York City was great {despite his wild and crazy behavior}.

We took the train up around lunchtime for a 2pm doctors appointment.  Thankfully he slept most of the train ride because he was getting pretty antsy on the ride into the city.

image   image

I had to wake him up in the tunnel and basically drag him up to the taxi stand.  He was a little out of it and if you have ever been in Penn Station people don’t have patience for a slow and sleepy kid!  But he survived the hustle and bustle and we hailed a cab over to the office. He wasn’t sure about the taxi ride.  Halfway through he asked me if there was a driver? Umm I hope so! He loved flying uptown passing cars and he especially loved the fact that he didn’t have to sit in his car seat!

After a quick cab ride, we made it to the doctors office!

So the reason for the doctors visit…. When he was born he had a cluster of moles on his arm and after his first appointment at the NYU Skin & Cancer center we found out that it was speckled lentiginous nevus. Yeah, say that 10 times fast!  But in basic, non medical terms, he has one large “mole” and inside that mole is a cluster of other moles.  Now Ben’s large mole is on his right arm from the elbow down to his hand. If you see him in person you will notice that his arm is a lot darker in this area and I swear he gets a new mole / freckle every day.  He was born with about 9 and after a year he had around 16 but now, I couldn’t even count there are so many. Luckily they don’t bother him much and no one seems to make fun of him.  As of now they are just cosmetic but because of the melanoma and other skin cancers on my side of the family we have to keep an eye on these things! So every year we take the train up to the city to get them checked out!

You can see some of them in this picture. They were very dark when he was a newborn but have faded a lot.

Doctor Update:  There’s no real update this time {which is a good thing}.  We go to the NYU Skin & Cancer clinic and a team of doctors and med students evaluate his pictures from last year and then come in to compare all of the changes.   He does pretty well with the group of doctors {even though one is snapping pictures of his arm the entire time}.  The doctor said that everything still looks healthy and nothing is at a high risk right now.  So we don’t need to come back again for another year!

This appointment is pretty painless but it’s such a long day of travel and then having to wait for over an hour {because they are always running behind}.  But this year we hopped in a cab and went down to daddy’s office.  Ben got to see his desk before we headed out for some pizza.  Unfortunately it was raining and Ben was getting pretty wild so we didn’t hike up to Times Square this time.  We just took a subway to Penn Station and headed home!

image   image

But it was a great day and I know that he was excited to take the train, subway & taxi.  Boys love this stuff.  I was pretty excited to be in the city again.   Quick trips into the city really make me miss living and working there! I just love the vibe and speed of the city!  Oh well maybe someday we will live back there again… when the kids are in college!

Wordless Wednesday – Avalon Edition

I finally uploaded the rest of my iPhone pictures to my computer so get ready for a photo dump here!  If you want to see some of the other beach pictures that I snapped of the boys, then click here to view my post from yesterday!

We have arrived!

Sunday – Checking out the beach for the first time this summer.  Ahhh, I finally got my feet in the sand {yes, I know that I am pale}.

Ben was a little chilly on the beach but he still had a blast.  Sean, well he is just like a little old man sitting in his chair watching the waves roll in.  Love that kid.

Sunday night we went to my Aunt & Uncle’s beach house on the bay of Stone Harbor for a wonderful dinner and great conversation. Oh and this was the same shore house that Taylor Swift used to spend her summers in and her dad still owns it.   Pretty cool.

Ben is so silly and so freaking cute!

Then it was time to catch some frogs!

Monday we headed back to the beach and filled our buckets with tons of water & sand

Tuesday was my belly shot day! Officially 14 weeks!

Tuesday night we headed out to dinner at The Circle Tavern.  Always a great meal here!

After dinner, Sean passed out on the car ride home. Ben was lucky and got a few minutes at the park with daddy.

Wednesday morning we had a delicious breakfast at Uncle Bill’s Pancake House!  Yummy. Yes, Sean is wearing the same shirt that he wore at dinner the night before – don’t ask!

Then it was back to the beach for a few hours of sunshine!

Sean was so cold but was determined to eat his snack! Silly boy!

Just rolling around in the sand!

We pretty much had the beach all to ourselves most of the week!

A little selfie.  I never do this but I really liked my hair that day!

Thursday was another wonderful beach day! The rain came in late in the afternoon but we were able to squeeze in a few hours under the sun before we decided it was a little too windy & chilly.

Sean and I decided that just because neither one of us could drink wine we would toast our water in fancy plastic wine glasses! Cheers!! Oh and yes, I had to addt hat second picture in there! He looks trashed! He has the best facial expressions!

Friday was a wash from the rain so we just went to Stone Harbor and did some shopping {after another great breakfast at Bill’s Pancase House of course}.

This is what washed us off the beach on Friday night.  New Jersey is under there somewhere!

Saturday morning we packed up the van and said goodbye to Avalon.  We hope to visit a few times this summer but can’t wait to spend another week there next year! I just love this family tradition!!!

When we got home I realized how much I missed my own shower! But I would do anything to spend my summers down the shore!  I’m still trying to find a way to make this happen!

Wordless Wednesday

AHHHHH relaxation! There’s nothing better than a little R&R down at the shore {yes, I am officially New Jersey now, I said the shore and not the beach}!!!

Talk to you guys soon!

Wordless Wednesday

So, do you all want to know what has been going on in my life the past few weeks?  Well here is your answer! For once I have no words.  But don’t worry, I will be back tomorrow with all of the crazy details!

Wordless Wednesday

Sorry that I have been MIA this week. My mom is in town visiting for a few days and I have been running around at doctor appointments, scheduling camps, signing Sean up for soccer, etc.  I hope to get back to the blogging soon! It has been a crazy month. Plus we go to Avalon in 9 days! Yes, 9 days until I get to see my husband for an entire week straight!  Oh and Ben is going to be graduating from Preschool in a few weeks! I still can’t believe the little man is headed to kindergarten.  It’s such a busy and exciting time of year.

The weekends have been flying by so quickly lately. We spent most of our Saturday at Great Adventure. The weather was cool and overcast. It drizzled a few times but not enough to chase us away. The boys were great and pretty well behaved.  No major tantrums! Ben was so happy because he is now tall enough to ride some of the kiddie rides all by himself.  Mommy on the other hand had a heart attack watching him on a few of them.

Sunday I had some mommy time at the movies. I met up with some friends to see Gatsby.  It was pretty good – not awesome but a good movie. It would have helped if I had remembered any of the book from high school English.  After the movie we headed out for an early dinner before I came back home. It was a nice little afternoon break. I hope to have more of them soon!

Well Ben has been playing with my phone lately and I love looking through my pictures after he gives it back. He is always snapping pictures! Here’s a little bit of his work.
